Saylor Elizabeth Blankenship

Painter | Visual Storyteller | Southern Creative

Saylor Elizabeth Blankenship is a multidisciplinary artist based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, whose work bridges the emotional depth of Southern identity with Cosmopolitan bold, expressive forms. Her paintings span abstract interpretations of bodies of water, soulful female figures, fashion-infused portraiture, and richly textured folk imagery. Deeply rooted in the cultural and natural landscapes of the American South and cosmopolitan form, her work reflects a lifelong fascination with its lakes, coastal shores and urban environments.

Saylor’s artistic vision is shaped by a unique blend of experiences—her childhood in a Southern college town, living on the lake, summers spent at her family’s home on the Gulf Coast, and years immersed in the fashion world of New York City. Saylor studied at The University of Alabama and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and has lived and worked in San Francisco and Atlanta. This blend of high fashion, regional history, and personal narrative informs her style, resulting in a body of work that feels both intimate and culturally resonant.

Through a dynamic mix of color, texture, and subject matter, Saylor creates pieces that invite viewers to reconsider the traditions, landscapes, and identities of the South—rendered through a lens that is deeply personal, yet universally familiar.
